Calls for urgent action raised in House of Lords

The APPG for Access to Disability Equipment was grateful to Lord Philip Hunt for raising the urgent need to improve provision for wheelchair services and community care equipment in the House of Lords this week.

Referencing our recent report, Barriers to Accessing Lifesaving Disability Equipment, Lord Hunt highlighted the worrying reality that 63% of carers and 55% of equipment users believe services are getting worse. As he stressed, provision varies significantly across the country, and stronger national action is urgently needed.

As recommended in our report, a national strategy for community care equipment would provide the consistent oversight needed to ensure timely, equitable access to the lifesaving equipment that so many people rely on.
