Launch of APPG for Access to Disability Equipment

Today, parliamentarians came together to form the new All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Access to Disability Equipment, chaired by Daniel Francis MP, with Josh Newbury MP, Craig Mackinlay and Tessa Munt MP as Vice Chairs and Officers of the group.

Following the election of officers, the APPG heard from Newlife the Charity for Disabled Children and British Healthcare Trades Association and held a discussion about the group's future priorities.

The APPG seeks to provide a forum for parliamentarians to engage directly with individuals living with disabilities, patient advocates, charities, and medical equipment providers, to understand the importance and impact that the provision of specialist equipment can have on the individual and society, and to promote learning and dialogue on the barriers preventing timely access to vital disability and medical equipment.

Alongside this, the APPG will seek to ensure the development of effective policies that remove these barriers and enable people with disabilities to lead healthy and independent lives.
